Health Catalyst Honored for Shattering the Glass Ceiling for Women in Technology
SALT LAKE CITY, Feb. 7, 2018 — Health Catalyst, a leader in healthcare analytics, decision support and outcomes improvement, has been recognized by the Women Tech Council as a member of the 2018 “Shatter List,” comprised of technology companies that enact practices and cultures intended to increase the number of women working in technology.
The Women Tech Council, a national organization based in in Salt Lake City’s “Silicon Slopes” technology region, is focused on increasing the number of women in technology. The 2018 Shatter List, comprised of 44 technology companies, is the first research of the technology industry to review and rate the development and successful implementation of measures that create inclusive cultures where women can contribute and succeed.
“We are honored to be named to the 2018 Shatter List, and feel deeply grateful for the leadership and contributions that our female team members provide at Health Catalyst,” said Dan Burton, CEO of Health Catalyst. “As an outcomes-improvement company, Health Catalyst will continue to relentlessly commit to its mission to make all team members—regardless of gender, race, experience, or perspective— feel respected and supported during the entirety of their careers at Health Catalyst.”
Health Catalyst’s HR-related practices are driven by fairness, from ethical hiring practices to flexible hours that encourage work-life integration. They are intended to create a supportive work environment that minimizes the personal sacrifices team members make when they come to work, and they demonstrate the company’s commitment to equity and being a best place to work for women:
- Family leave, including generous and flexible maternity and paternity leave policies.
- Unlimited paid time off.
- Flexible work hours and the ability to work remotely.
- Wellness program (onsite gym and allowance to spend on anything wellness related).
- Pay equity and above-average compensation.
The Shatter List was compiled by scoring companies on four factors critical to building inclusive cultures with meaningful measures that help women break and surpass the glass ceiling in technology. Each factor relates to demonstrable and visible activities, programming and commitment to women working in technology at all levels of the company from executive to entry level. Data was gathered and evaluated from across 10 different secondary data sets and mapped to the following four evaluation factors:
- Executive engagement (active support from the CEO, executive team and all leadership)
- Company programming (currently has women in leadership executive positions and proactively implements programs to support women in technology)
- Community investment (active participation with the broader community to learn from and share best practices regarding culture and inclusion)
“Shattering technology’s glass ceiling requires companies to invest more and be actively engaged in creating cultures and activities that expect and demand inclusivity from top to bottom,” said Cydni Tetro, Women Tech Council president. “By highlighting the companies and practices that are actively championing women and are making strides to change the industry’s landscape and culture, this list accelerates the technology sector’s journey to increase the number of women in technology and break our own glass ceiling.”
