What are the sources of serotonin?
-SSRIs (e.g. Celexa, Lexapro, Prozac, Luvox, Paxil, Zoloft, Viibryd, Brintellix)
-SNRIs (e.g. Cymbalta, Effexor, Pristiq, Fetzima)
-TCAs (e.g. Norpramin, Pamelor, Elavil, Anafranil, Silenor, etc.)
-Triptans (e.g. medications that end with -triptan)
-Buspirone
-Lithium
-Tramadol
-Fentanyl
-Tryptophan
-St. John’s Wort
What are the symptoms?
-Changes in mental state (hallucinations, unresponsiveness, etc.)
-Muscle problems (muscle twitching, muscle tightness, or coordination problems)
-Feel your heart racing
-Sweating or fever
-Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
What should I do?
Call you doctor, call 911, or go to the closest emergency room immediately.
