Lake Health District Advances Health System with Cerner Electronic Health Record
KANSAS CITY – September 24, 2019 – Lake Health District (LHD), a critical-access hospital in south central Oregon, has signed a multi-year deal with Cerner Corporation to upgrade its electronic health record (EHR) system. Cerner Millennium® will replace five disparate systems across the main LHD hospital and clinics, providing a single source for patient health data that can be accessed across multiple venues of care.
“We understand that health care is evolving and saw immense value in moving to a single EHR across our organization,” said Charlie Tveit, CEO, LHD. “After recently acquiring a new clinic and experiencing continued growth across all facilities, we knew it was time to upgrade our technology. We saw a potential for true interoperability with Cerner. We’ll be able to drive the most value to our patients and our community.”
LHD will leverage Cerner CommunityWorksSM, a cloud-based EHR delivery model, designed to give doctors and nurses an up-to-date view of patient medical data in near real-time and help them make more informed decisions on the appropriate care plan for each patient. Physicians will benefit through a more streamlined workflow that supports high-quality, personalized patient care. Additionally, through an online portal, patients will be able to securely message their health provider, schedule appointments, view and settle financial balances and access their health history.
“We’re proud to welcome Lake Health District as our third CommunityWorks client in the state of Oregon,” said Mitchell Clark, president, CommunityWorks, Cerner. “Our relationship with Lake Health is valuable as we look to provide them with advanced technology at scale to support their continued growth and improved care for patients.”
LHD will also implement Cerner HealtheIntent®, a cloud-based big data and insights platform for population health management to help identify at risk populations or gaps in care. This information helps LHD clinicians make data-driven decisions for patients with a focus on preventing disease and the onset of chronic conditions.
With multiple facilities across Lakeview, this agreement will bring value to many in the region who rely on LHD for their health care needs. LHD has additional facilities in Christmas Valley, Oregon and Alturas, California and plans to launch the new system with Cerner in 2020.
