Kelly Healthcare Resources® Celebrates National Nurses Week
Texas Healthcare Professional Honored as National Nurse of the Year
HOUSTON (May 9, 2011) – To recognize the significant contribution, hard work, and dedication of our nation’s nearly three million registered nurses, Kelly Healthcare Resources (KHR), a specialty service of Kelly Services, is honoring Wanda Ford, RN, MPH, as its Nurse of the Year in conjunction with National Nurses Week, May 6-12, 2011. Ms. Ford was selected from more than 3,000 Kelly nurses as this year’s national winner for her professionalism, dedication, empathy and unwavering support during the Deepwater Horizon Incident.
Ms. Ford joined Kelly Healthcare Resources in 2010 and was assigned as a nurse case manager at the Houston Crisis Center of BP’s Gulf of Mexico operations during May in support of the response effort. In her role, she was responsible for follow-up medical care and ergonomic evaluation and education. She was later reassigned to assist with case review within the Medical Data Management project. Ms. Ford has eight years of nursing experience and is certified in infection control. She has served as a surgical nurse and occupational health nurse at several major hospitals and health agencies in the Houston area.
“Ms. Ford always demonstrated a positive attitude, a smile and a willingness to go above and beyond what is expected of her,” said Mary Catherine Nagengast, RN, BSN, Medical Data Management Project Manager and Incident Nurse Manager for the Deepwater Horizon response at BP. “Not only was the quality of her work exceptional, but her dedication to the project and her team members was also exemplary. Ms. Ford is truly deserving of the Kelly Healthcare Resources Nurse of the Year Award.”
The National Nurse of the Year award was developed to recognize Kelly nurses for their outstanding work in the healthcare industry. The award, presented to Ms. Ford in conjunction with National Nurses Week, is based on performance feedback from customers of Kelly Healthcare Resources.
“We are pleased to honor Wanda Ford as our 2011 Nurse of the Year,” said Grace Paranzino, chief clinical officer, Kelly Healthcare Resources. “She was most conscientious in following through on any request made by her supervisors at BP’s Gulf of Mexico operations. “In addition, she maintained a professional level of courtesy, humor and sincerity that she imparted to each person she encountered while on assignment.”
