MDLIVE names Scott Decker, veteran health IT executive, as new CEO
Telehealth company expands its team in preparation for accelerated growth
SUNRISE, Fla. (November 11, 2016) — MDLIVE today announced the appointment of Scott Decker as Chief Executive Officer, effective Nov. 14, 2016. Current CEO and Founder Randy Parker will assume the position of Chief Business Development Officer and continue to serve on the Board of Directors.
“We are on the cusp of a technology-enabled consumer revolution in healthcare not dissimilar to what has been experienced in retail, travel, and banking. I was immediately impressed by the vision, technology platform, partnerships and team that Randy has assembled at MDLIVE,” said Decker. “Having the opportunity to jump into the middle of this incredible growth story and help the team evolve to the next level was something that I couldn’t pass up. I believe the rapid adoption of virtual care models over the next few years has the potential to dramatically change the healthcare landscape and MDLIVE will be a key catalyst in that change.”
This addition to the leadership team comes amidst MDLIVE’s explosive year-over-year growth to cover more than 22 million lives for the 2017 health plan year, as well as the company’s expansion from a low acuity telehealth provider to a major virtual care company with the industry’s leading technology platform encompassing the full spectrum of medical conditions, as well as behavioral health.
Mr. Decker joins MDLIVE with nearly 30 years of experience and leadership as both an innovator and health information technology executive capable of driving significant scale. Most recently, he served as CEO at HealthSparq, where he built the industry’s first cloud-based shopping/transparency platform for healthcare consumers. In just four years, HealthSparq grew from startup to servicing 70 health plans and 70 million Americans and was recently recognized as 196 on the 2016 Inc. 5000 list of America’s Fastest Growing Companies. Prior to HealthSparq, he held CEO and President roles at NextGen Healthcare and HealthVision, Inc., where he had similar success deploying innovative technology models and rapidly scaling the organizations.
“The Board is excited about the appointment of Scott Decker as MDLIVE’s new CEO and Board member,” said David Sculley, chairman of the Board at MDLIVE. “Scott’s deep experience leading transformative and high-performing health IT companies, most recently in the consumer healthcare transparency market, makes him the ideal choice to lead MDLIVE into its next stage of growth.” Mr. Sculley continued, “This is an incredible time for the company and the industry. We are certain Scott is the right person to build on what MDLIVE’s founder and visionary, Randy Parker, started, driving success in areas where we have seen significant momentum in the market and our business.”
“As the founder of MDLIVE, I take great pride that our accelerated growth allows us to attract a high quality professional like Scott to take the helm, bringing added dimensions of leadership and experience to our executive team,” said Parker. “I’ve known Scott for many years and am confident he is the right person to lead MDLIVE into this new stage. I look forward to helping him and the entire MDLIVE team in the years ahead to leverage our technology platform and capitalize on the opportunities for the company.”
